Leading British Alpinist, Skier and Mountaineer, Fay Manners

Leave behind the crowded resorts. This is Greenland’s remote west coast — where icy silence, endless ridgelines, and runs that end in ocean spray await. Join 10 extraordinary people for 7 days aboard a private expedition boat, skiing lines that drop straight into fjords few humans have touched. Guided by world-class mountain experts and led by elite athlete Fay Manners, this isn’t a ski trip. It’s a call to your wildest self.

Trip Highlights:

  • Ski lines that drop into the sea

  • Explore untouched fjords by boat

  • Spot whales under Arctic skies

  • Ride cold, untracked powder

  • Chase surreal light in Arctic days

  • 10-person, vetted, small crew

About Fay

Fay Manners is a world-class British alpinist who’s spent the last decade chasing first ascents in some of the most remote, unforgiving terrain on Earth—from Greenland to Patagonia. A fixture in the high Alps, she made history with the first female ascent of Phantom Direct on the Grand Jorasses, one of the most difficult alpine ice climbs in Europe. But Fay isn’t driven by ego or accolades—she’s driven by clarity. For her, the mountains aren’t about conquering anything. They’re a mirror. A space where distractions fall away and the real work begins. With Fay, the experience isn’t just physical—it’s deeply personal.

Clarity at the Edge

Fay believes the most honest version of ourselves emerges under pressure. Her time in the mountains has shaped a philosophy grounded in presence, humility, and total focus. She brings that mindset to every trip—inviting guests into the rare stillness that only comes when the world falls quiet and the next step is all that matters.

Mentor, Not Hero

Fay leads with grace, not bravado. She sees guiding not as performance, but as partnership. On expedition, she creates space for people to test their limits—physically, mentally, emotionally—and offers her full presence as they do. With Fay, you're not following a celebrity. You're adventuring with someone who truly wants you to grow.

Redefining the Summit

Fay’s mission goes beyond the mountain. She’s committed to making extreme environments more inclusive—especially for women and underrepresented adventurers. Her work has opened doors in a sport that too often gatekeeps the wild. With Fay, every trip is a small rebellion against the idea that you have to fit a mold to belong in these places.

The Itinerary

Greenland isn’t a route. It’s a rhythm. Every day, we read the weather, the snow, and the sea. Our boat moves fjord to fjord—dropping us into raw, untouched terrain. No crowds. No script. Just lines that end at the water’s edge.

What It Takes

Mindset

This is for people who know that clarity lives on the other side of challenge. You don’t need to be an expert skier or seasoned expeditionist—but you do need to show up fully, with curiosity, humility, and readiness to be uncomfortable.

  • You're fit enough to tour ~1000m/day

  • You're confident off-piste, even if not extreme

  • You’re okay with cold mornings, unknown plans, and deep presence

Gear

We’ll send a full list, but here’s the short version:

  • Touring setup (skis, skins, boots, poles, avalanche gear)

  • Layers for Arctic snow: shell, down, wool

  • Boat life comfort: after-ski shoes, cozy layers, earplugs

  • Passport, travel insurance, and willingness to disconnect

General

What is Loaf?
Loaf is a platform that co-creates transformative retreats with world-class athletes. We don’t do tour groups or surface-level sightseeing—we build immersive, high-intensity adventures that change how you see the world (and yourself). Each retreat is co-designed and co-led by a world-class athlete like Fay Manners. You’re not just watching them perform—you’re adventuring alongside them, learning their mindset, and stepping into their world.
How are Loaf trips different from standard adventure tours?
We combine athlete-grade adventure with depth: curated groups, emotional presence, and serious physical immersion. It’s not about luxury. It’s not about Instagram. It’s about showing up for something real—with others who are doing the same.

About this Expedition

Do I need to be an expert skier?
No—but this is not for beginners. You should be confident skiing off-piste in variable conditions and have experience with backcountry or ski touring. Expect ~1000m of vertical per day.
How cold does it get?
Daytime temperatures hover around -5°C to 0°C. Nights are colder. You’ll be warm and dry on the boat, but daily outings are full Arctic conditions. You’ll need proper layers.
Where do we sleep?
You’ll sleep on a private expedition vessel—10 cabins (mix of singles and doubles), warm indoor dining space, 4 shared bathrooms. It’s not fancy, but it’s deeply comfortable.
How flexible is the itinerary?
Very. This is an expedition, not a fixed tour. Our guides assess snow, weather, and group readiness daily. Plans shift. That’s the magic.
Can I bring a friend or do I need to come solo?
Both options work beautifully! Many people come solo (and leave with new friends), while others join with partners or friends. Groups of two receive a 10% discount. The shared challenge creates connections regardless of how you arrive.
What if I'm solo—who will I share accommodations with?
Solo travelers share rooms with other same-gender participants. Our accommodations range from private en-suite rooms to shared spaces depending on the retreat and location. If you prefer privacy, single room upgrades are available for an additional fee.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes, comprehensive travel and health insurance is mandatory for all our trips. Your policy must cover emergency evacuation and repatriation.
Can I rent ski gear?
A limited number of rentals may be possible. We’ll connect you to a local outfitter if needed, but bring your own if you can.
What should I pack?
We’ll send a detailed list, but expect to bring your full ski touring setup (skis, boots, skins, beacon, shovel, probe, etc.), Arctic layers, and personal items. Some rentals available—ask us early.

Group, Safety & Application

Who else will be on this trip?
10 driven, curious people who applied and were selected for group fit. Some solo travelers, some couples. No influencers, no egos. Just good humans chasing something real.
10 driven, curious people who applied and were selected for group fit. Some solo travelers, some couples. No influencers, no egos. Just good humans chasing something real.
How do I apply?
Click “Apply” and fill out a short form and book a quick call to see if this is a fit and answer any questions you may have. Then we'll share next steps to finalize your booking.
Is this safe?
Yes—with caveats. Backcountry skiing has risk. We travel with certified guides, use proper safety protocols, and brief everyone thoroughly. But this isn’t sanitized. Presence is non-negotiable.
What if I’ve never done a trip like this before?
That’s okay—as long as you meet the skill/fitness baseline and the intention feels right. Many of our guests are stepping into something big for the first time. You won’t be alone.
